Cash ISA

Lloyds Bank Cash ISA

Lloyds runs fixed-rate and limited-access Cash ISAs, and almost every rate on the range has a condition attached — a Premier current account for the fixed-rate bonus, or a withdrawal limit on the variable accounts. The headline numbers are only what you get if you meet them.

Before you commit an allowance

What to check first

  • The variable ISAs are limited-access in practice. Two withdrawals a year keeps 3.00%; the third drops you to 0.65% — a fall of more than three quarters, on an account many people would read as easy access.
  • The 4.00% one-year rate becomes 4.20% only with a Lloyds Premier current account held for at least eight days. Without one, the two-year account at 4.10% pays more than the one-year.
  • Both fixed ISAs need £500 to open, so they are not a home for a small first deposit.
  • At the end of a fixed term the money moves into an Instant Cash ISA, which pays far less. Diarise the maturity date rather than letting it roll.
  • Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland share one banking licence, so the £120,000 FSCS limit is shared across all three — holding ISAs at two of them does not double your protection.

A Cash ISA allowance is annual and does not roll over. Read how the providers compare before committing it to one bank.
