Cash ISA

Halifax Cash ISA

Halifax offers a fixed-rate ISA over one, two and five years, and two variable ISAs whose rate depends on how often you withdraw. The range closely mirrors Lloyds', which is no accident — they share a banking licence, and that matters for how much of your money is protected.

What to check first

  • The variable ISAs are not really easy access. Two withdrawals a year keeps 3.00%; from the month you make a third you drop to 0.65% for the rest of the account year — the penalty lasts, it is not just that one month.
  • On the ISA Saver Fixed you cannot simply take money out. Withdrawals are by account closure or transfer only, and charges apply.
  • The two-year and five-year fixed terms both pay 4.10%, so locking up for five years buys no extra rate over two at the time this was checked.
  • Halifax, Lloyds and Bank of Scotland share one banking licence. The £120,000 FSCS limit covers all three combined, so spreading an ISA across them does not spread the protection.
  • Halifax is being folded into the Lloyds brand over time. Check what that means for an account you are opening now.

A Cash ISA allowance is annual and does not roll over. Read how the providers compare before committing it to one bank.
